Professionals United in Literary & Scholarly Excellence (PULSE), founded by Pyrrhic Press Publishing in 2023, is an independent scholarly and professional association dedicated to promoting literary, academic, educational, research, and professional excellence.

PULSE brings together scholars, educators, researchers, writers, students, independent researchers, professionals, practitioners, and lifelong learners who share an interest in creating, evaluating, discussing, and applying knowledge.

Membership in PULSE is completely free. There are no membership fees, subscription charges, or required purchases.

Our purpose is straightforward: create an accessible scholarly and professional community in which knowledge, research, education, professional experience, and intellectual collaboration can cross traditional institutional and disciplinary boundaries.

Our Mission

The mission of PULSE is to advance scholarly and professional excellence through responsible research, interdisciplinary dialogue, open scholarship, professional knowledge exchange, education, mentorship, publication, and collaboration.

PULSE recognizes that meaningful scholarship can emerge from universities and research institutions as well as independent researchers, educators, professional practice, industry, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Association seeks to strengthen connections between scholarship and professional practice while expanding opportunities for established and emerging researchers, authors, educators, students, and professionals to participate in scholarly communities.

Scholarly Objectives

PULSE works to:

• Encourage ethical, responsible, and transparent research and scholarly communication.

• Promote interdisciplinary exchange among researchers, educators, scholars, professionals, practitioners, students, and authors.

• Support open access to legitimate research and educational knowledge.

• Encourage the development and dissemination of original scholarship.

• Connect academic research with professional and organizational practice.

• Support emerging and independent researchers seeking to participate in scholarly communities.

Open-Access Scholarship

PULSE supports the principle that legitimate scholarly knowledge should be accessible as broadly as possible.

Members can explore the open-access journals, research articles, educational materials, and scholarly resources made available through Pyrrhic Press Publishing.

Pyrrhic Press scholarly works designated as CC0 are made available pursuant to the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication, subject to applicable third-party rights and any different terms expressly identified with an individual work.

Scholarly and Professional Community

PULSE provides a community connecting individuals from academic, educational, professional, literary, technical, and research backgrounds.

Members are encouraged to exchange ideas, identify research opportunities, collaborate across disciplines, discuss emerging issues, and build relationships with others interested in scholarship and professional knowledge.

Professional Development and Scholarly Programs

PULSE offers and develops free educational webinars, workshops, scholarly discussions, and professional-development programs for researchers, educators, writers, students, independent scholars, professionals, and practitioners.

PULSE's webinar program includes focused 30-minute educational sessions designed to make scholarly and professional development practical and accessible.

Research and Scholarly Exchange

PULSE encourages discussion and dissemination of research, emerging theories, interdisciplinary scholarship, professional knowledge, and practice-based insights.

Members may have opportunities to participate in scholarly discussions, research collaborations, educational initiatives, professional-development programs, and other activities consistent with the Association's mission.

Peer Review and Scholarly Service

Appropriately qualified PULSE members may be considered for peer-review, editorial consultation, educational programming, research collaboration, or other scholarly service when their expertise is relevant.

PULSE membership alone does not qualify an individual to serve as a peer reviewer or editor.

Individuals participating in peer review or editorial activities must satisfy the applicable journal's requirements concerning subject-matter expertise, independence, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and research integrity.

Education and Mentorship

PULSE encourages experienced scholars, researchers, educators, authors, and professionals to share knowledge with individuals developing their scholarly and professional capabilities.

The Association supports mentorship, professional learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of emerging researchers and authors.

PULSE is open to individuals with a genuine interest in scholarship, research, education, literature, publishing, professional knowledge, or intellectual development.

Membership is free.

Membership does not constitute employment by Pyrrhic Press Publishing and does not provide ownership, editorial authority, guaranteed publication, preferential manuscript consideration, or automatic eligibility to serve as a peer reviewer.

Governance and Scholarly Independence

PULSE was founded by Pyrrhic Press Publishing in 2023 and operates as a scholarly and professional association supporting research, education, professional knowledge, literature, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Association activities are overseen through designated leadership and may be supported by committees, advisors, presenters, subject-matter experts, and qualified members participating in particular scholarly, educational, membership, or professional initiatives.

PULSE governance is separate from individual manuscript decisions made by journals published by Pyrrhic Press.

Membership in PULSE does not provide authority over manuscript acceptance, rejection, peer review, or editorial decisions.

Editorial decisions involving Pyrrhic Press journals remain subject to the governance, editorial-independence, conflict-of-interest, research-integrity, and peer-review policies of the applicable journal and publisher.

Scholarly Affiliation with Professionals in Business Journal

Professionals in Business Journal (PIBJ), ISSN 2998-9019, maintains a scholarly affiliation with Professionals United in Literary & Scholarly Excellence (PULSE), Vernon Township, New Jersey, United States.

PIBJ and PULSE share commitments to scholarly exchange, professional research, interdisciplinary collaboration, open scholarship, and strengthening connections between research and professional practice.

PULSE supports the scholarly community surrounding PIBJ by encouraging research participation, interdisciplinary discussion, professional knowledge exchange, mentorship, professional development, and scholarly service.

Qualified members may be considered for peer-review or other scholarly activities when their expertise is appropriate and applicable independence requirements are satisfied.

PULSE does not control individual editorial decisions at PIBJ.

Manuscripts submitted by PULSE members receive no preferential consideration and remain subject to the same editorial screening, peer-review requirements, research-integrity standards, and publication policies applicable to other submissions.

Relationship with Pyrrhic Press Publishing

Pyrrhic Press Publishing founded and supports PULSE as part of its broader commitment to accessible scholarship, research, education, professional development, and open-access publishing.

PULSE and Pyrrhic Press may collaborate on scholarly initiatives, educational resources, research activities, publications, webinars, professional-development programs, and other activities consistent with their respective missions.

Membership in PULSE does not create an employment, ownership, agency, or contractual relationship with Pyrrhic Press Publishing.

Research Integrity and Professional Conduct

PULSE supports research integrity, transparency, responsible authorship, appropriate attribution, disclosure of relevant conflicts of interest, intellectual independence, and ethical scholarly communication.

PULSE does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of research, intentional misrepresentation of sources, undisclosed conflicts that compromise scholarly activities, or other serious violations of research integrity.

Scholarly activities conducted in association with a Pyrrhic Press journal remain subject to the publisher's established Publication Ethics, Peer Review, Editorial Governance, and Research Integrity policies.

PULSE encourages intellectual diversity and does not require members to adopt particular academic, professional, political, philosophical, or methodological positions.

Open Scholarship

PULSE supports broad dissemination of legitimate scholarship and educational knowledge.

The Association encourages researchers and professionals to make their work discoverable and accessible where appropriate while respecting intellectual property, research ethics, privacy, confidentiality, and third-party rights.

PULSE Scholarly Webinar Series

The PULSE Scholarly Webinar Series provides free, focused educational programming for researchers, authors, educators, students, independent scholars, and professionals.

Sessions are generally approximately 30 minutes and combine practical instruction with opportunities for questions and scholarly discussion.

Webinars may be presented by PULSE leadership, invited scholars, educators, researchers, authors, practitioners, or subject-matter experts.

Participation is free.
