Ink & Echo welcomes original poetry and spoken word from emerging, independent, first-time, and established voices. We are looking for work that means something to the person who created it—and might mean something to the person who discovers it.
Submission & Publication Terms
Ink & Echo exists to give poetry and spoken word a place to live, be heard, and be discovered. These terms explain what happens when you submit work for consideration and, if accepted, what permission you give Pyrrhic Press to publish and share it.
Submission is not publication. All work submitted to Ink & Echo is received for editorial consideration first. Nothing submitted through this form is automatically published, displayed, or added to the Ink & Echo website.
Your Work Remains Yours
You retain copyright in the original poetry, spoken word, performance, recording, or other creative work you submit to Ink & Echo.
Submission gives Ink & Echo permission to review the work. Publication permissions apply only if the work is accepted for publication.
You Must Have the Right to Submit It
By submitting work, you represent that you created the work or otherwise possess the rights and permissions necessary to submit it for consideration and, if accepted, authorize its publication.
You are responsible for obtaining permission for any third-party material included in your submission, including copyrighted music, images, video footage, performances, recordings, text, or other protected material that you do not own.
Editorial Review
Every submission is reviewed before publication. Submission does not guarantee acceptance or publication. Ink & Echo and Pyrrhic Press reserve editorial discretion over which works are accepted for the collection.
We may contact you with questions or to discuss minor editorial, formatting, presentation, accessibility, or technical changes before publication. Material changes to the creative substance of an accepted work will not be made without the creator's involvement.
Permission to Publish Accepted Work
If your submission is accepted, you grant Pyrrhic Press a non-exclusive, worldwide permission to publish, reproduce, display, distribute, host, archive, preserve, and make the accepted work publicly accessible as part of Ink & Echo and the Pyrrhic Press publishing platform.
This permission also allows Pyrrhic Press to use reasonable excerpts, the work's title, your credited name or approved creator name, and associated publication information for purposes of identifying, indexing, cataloging, announcing, and promoting the work and Ink & Echo.
You remain free to use, perform, publish, share, submit, or otherwise make your work available elsewhere, subject to any separate agreements you may enter into with others.
Poetry & Written Work
Accepted written work may be formatted for presentation on the Ink & Echo website. Formatting may include typography, spacing, page layout, accessibility adjustments, metadata, and other presentation elements necessary to publish the work within the collection.
Ink & Echo will make reasonable efforts to preserve intentional line breaks, stanza structure, punctuation, and other meaningful elements of the submitted work.
Spoken Word & Performance Recordings
If you submit an audio or video performance, including an MP4 or similar recording, you represent that you have the authority to submit the recording and authorize its publication.
If accepted, you authorize Pyrrhic Press to host, reproduce, stream, display, embed, or otherwise make the recording available through Ink & Echo and to create technically necessary versions of the file for web delivery, accessibility, compatibility, preservation, or archival purposes.
You also authorize the use of reasonable still images, thumbnails, short excerpts, titles, and descriptive information from an accepted performance for purposes of identifying and promoting that performance and Ink & Echo.
Previously Published & Simultaneous Submissions
Previously published work and work under consideration elsewhere may be submitted provided you retain the rights necessary for Ink & Echo to publish it.
If a work has previously appeared elsewhere, please disclose that publication history with your submission so appropriate attribution or acknowledgment can be considered.
If the work is accepted elsewhere while it is under consideration by Ink & Echo and that acceptance affects your ability to authorize publication here, please notify Pyrrhic Press.
AI & Creative Authorship
Ink & Echo is intended to publish authentic human creative expression. Submitters should disclose any material use of generative artificial intelligence in creating the submitted work.
Work represented as the submitter's original poetry, writing, or performance should reflect meaningful human authorship. Undisclosed AI-generated or substantially AI-generated material may be declined or removed from the collection.
Attribution
Accepted work will ordinarily be credited using the creator name, pen name, stage name, or other attribution approved for publication.
Submitters are responsible for providing accurate identifying and biographical information and for informing Pyrrhic Press of any requested corrections.
Open Access & Fees
Ink & Echo is intended to make accepted work openly accessible to readers and audiences through Pyrrhic Press. There is no fee to submit work for consideration and no publication fee charged for accepted work.
Open availability through Ink & Echo does not by itself transfer the creator's copyright to Pyrrhic Press.
Withdrawal, Corrections & Removal Requests
A submitter may withdraw a work from consideration at any time before publication by contacting Pyrrhic Press.
After publication, creators may contact Pyrrhic Press to request a correction, attribution change, or removal. Pyrrhic Press will review reasonable requests and may retain limited archival, administrative, bibliographic, or preservation records documenting that the work was previously published.
Acceptance May Be Reconsidered
Pyrrhic Press may decline, postpone, correct, restrict, or remove material when reasonably necessary because of rights concerns, inaccurate authorship claims, undisclosed third-party material, plagiarism, misrepresentation, legal concerns, technical issues, or violations of Ink & Echo or Pyrrhic Press publishing standards.
By submitting work to Ink & Echo and affirmatively agreeing to these Submission & Publication Terms, you confirm that you have read and understood them, that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that you have the authority to submit the work under these terms.
