Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

Pyrrhic Press Publishing is committed to maintaining an accurate, transparent, and trustworthy scholarly record.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, authorship, citations, disclosures, and ethical compliance of work submitted under their names.

Research Misconduct

Pyrrhic Press does not accept research misconduct including:

• Fabrication of data or evidence
• Falsification of research results
• Plagiarism
• Deliberate misrepresentation of sources
• Fabricated citations
• Manipulation of citations
• Misrepresentation of authorship
• Deceptive manipulation of images or data
• Undisclosed duplicate publication
• Material misrepresentation of research provenance

Plagiarism and Originality

Authors must appropriately identify and cite material derived from other sources.

Pyrrhic Press may use similarity detection or other tools as part of editorial screening or research integrity review.

Automated similarity results are indicators requiring human evaluation and do not independently establish plagiarism.

Authorship

Authorship should reflect meaningful scholarly, intellectual, analytical, or creative contribution to the work.

Individuals should not be included as authors solely because of position, prestige, financial support, administrative authority, personal relationships, or honorary association.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that authorship is accurately represented.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence systems and automated tools cannot accept responsibility for scholarly work and may not be listed as authors.

Authors must disclose material use of generative artificial intelligence in manuscript preparation when the use extends beyond straightforward language correction, editing, or formatting.

Authors remain responsible for checking the validity and accuracy of all output produced by automated tools.

Generative artificial intelligence must not be cited as a scholarly source.

Authors are responsible for verifying every citation, reference, quotation, factual assertion, and analytical conclusion appearing in their manuscript.

Human Participant Research

Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical, professional, institutional, and legal requirements.

Authors should identify relevant ethical approval, exemption, informed consent, or oversight information when applicable.

Consent and Privacy

Authors are responsible for protecting participant privacy and confidential information.

Identifiable participant information, photographs, case details, or other sensitive information should not be published without appropriate consent, authorization, or lawful and ethical justification.

Animal Research

Research involving animals must comply with applicable ethical, professional, institutional, and legal standards.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose material financial, professional, academic, institutional, or personal interests that could reasonably affect interpretation of the research.

Funding

Authors should identify funding sources relevant to the research and, when applicable, describe the role of the funder.

Data Integrity and Availability

Authors must accurately represent research data and must not fabricate, falsify, selectively alter, or deceptively manipulate evidence.

Authors should provide an accurate data availability statement when applicable.

Pyrrhic Press encourages appropriate sharing of data, methods, materials, and code when legally and ethically permissible.

Citation Integrity

Citations should accurately identify sources relevant to the claims being made.

Fabricated references, deceptive citation practices, and citation manipulation are prohibited.

Corrections

Pyrrhic Press may issue a correction when an error affects the accuracy, interpretation, attribution, or metadata of a publication without invalidating the work as a whole.

Retractions

Pyrrhic Press may retract a publication when reliable evidence indicates that the work is seriously unreliable because of misconduct, major error, plagiarism, unethical research, fabricated evidence, duplicate publication, or another substantial integrity problem.

Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly record rather than punish an author.

A retraction notice should identify the affected work and explain the reason for the action to the extent appropriate and legally permissible.

Expressions of Concern

Pyrrhic Press may publish an expression of concern or other editorial notice when a significant unresolved issue requires readers to be informed while additional evaluation is conducted.

Post Publication Review

Publication does not end Pyrrhic Press responsibility for maintaining the integrity of its scholarly record.

Readers, researchers, reviewers, and authors may report credible concerns regarding published work.

Complaints

Complaints concerning publication ethics, editorial procedures, peer review, or research integrity may be submitted to the editorial office.

Complaints should identify the publication or process involved and provide sufficient information for the matter to be evaluated.

Appeals

Authors may request reconsideration of an editorial decision when they believe a significant factual, procedural, or ethical error affected the decision.

An appeal should explain the basis for reconsideration and provide relevant supporting information.

An appeal does not guarantee reversal of the original decision.

When reasonably practicable, a complaint or appeal involving a particular editor should be evaluated by another appropriate person who was not the subject of the complaint.
