Ink & Echo is the poetry and spoken-word collection of Pyrrhic Press—a home for original expression in its written and spoken forms.
It exists for established writers and emerging voices, practiced poets and first-time authors, quiet observations and words that demand to be heard. We are interested in work that carries something real: an idea, an experience, an image, a memory, a question, a wound, a laugh, a truth, or simply a moment worth preserving.
The word that remains.
Ink represents permanence—the moment a thought, feeling, memory, or idea is committed to the page. Written words can outlive the moment that created them, waiting to be discovered again by someone who was never there.
The voice that continues.
Echo represents resonance—the part of a voice that continues after the speaker has finished. Spoken word gives language breath, rhythm, silence, volume, and presence. The sound ends. What it leaves behind does not.
That is. In other words.
Together, Ink & Echo becomes I&E, carrying a quiet nod to i.e.—the abbreviation of the Latin id est, meaning “that is” or “in other words.” Perhaps that is what poetry has always done best: find other words for the things ordinary language cannot quite hold.
One symbol. Several stories.
The Ink & Echo emblem was designed with the same layered meaning as the name itself. Its central form suggests the I of Ink while the sweeping form carries the movement of Echo and the ampersand that joins the two. A centered tittle completes the letterform. Within the mark is also the subtle silhouette of a blade—a quiet visual connection to the Pyrrhic name and the collection's place within Pyrrhic Press. None of these meanings must be seen at once. Like poetry, the symbol reveals more the longer you look.
There is no single way to write a poem.
Ink & Echo welcomes poetry and spoken word across subjects, forms, styles, experiences, and perspectives. We are less interested in forcing work into a category than in discovering words worth carrying forward.
